Which organisation will you be supporting?
Age Well East is a charity empowering people in later years since 1950 and provide excellent support services which are free and easily available. They advise and provide practical information; connect communities to tackle loneliness; support people through emotional challenges and empower people to live well with dementia.
What do they want to achieve?
To provide companionship to those who are lonely and isolated and brighten their day!
What do they need help with?
They require help to reduce loneliness and social isolation across Essex, England. Unfortunately, they have 237 clients on their waiting list for a volunteer befriender. These people can go a week without speaking to anyone. The volunteering opportunities available are telephone befriending, face to face visits and community companions.
What do they have in place?
They provide volunteer befrienders to lonely and isolated people across Essex and currently supporting 239 clients.
