Who is Goodsted?
Goodsted's vision is to empower collaboration for social and environmental progress. We are a platform that connects individuals who want to share/volunteer their skills & expertise with non-profits and impact organisations. Through our digital platform, projects and organisations can post skilled based volunteer needs and find the right person to support their project. It is an open community platform with the aim to nurture collaboration to progress causes we all care about. With this post, we're looking to reach out to individuals interested in volunteering and grow our volunteer community.
Which organisation will you be supporting?
Khushi Kantha is an award-winning non-profit social enterprise creating opportunities for mothers in Bangladesh and contributing to the circular economy. Khushi Kantha partners with sustainability-minded members of the Bangladeshi garments industry to breathe new life into deadstock cotton fabric by upcycling it to line their products, which are hand-crafted from hand-woven hand-dyed 100% cotton fabric and embroidered with empowerment by the mothers they partner with.
What do they want to achieve?
At this stage, their primary strategic goal is to build up their customer base and sales to the extent that they can be confident of selling 20 blankets (or equivalent in other, lower-priced products) per stitcher per month. This would enable them to shift from paying piece-rates to monthly salaries, with associated benefits, thereby strengthening their contribution to SDG 8: Decent Work and Employment - and ultimately to other SDGs, such as SDG 1: No Poverty.
What do they need help with?
Khushi Kantha is essentially operating as a one-woman band. Laura is doing everything except production and has limited skills, time and experience in marketing/PR/sales etc.
She needs help with adapting the brand's messaging to fit the target market. She has been advised by marketing experts that her current branding, content etc. does not reflect the ‘look and feel’ they are seeking.
She also needs help with wholesale and corporate gifting, to help grow up customer base.
She would love to try and get Khushi Kantha featured in some relevant magazines etc. as she's found that the couple of articles in which they were featured (Positive News and People's Friend) have been the strongest contributor to their sales (in addition to word of mouth). They have close to zero advertising/marketing budget.
Support with any/all of this would be incredible, and she is looking for people who can hit the ground running and help with the actual implementation (i.e. doing the posting on social media, getting in touch with boutiques to see if they'd like to stock their products), rather than just developing brilliant strategies that she wouldn't have the time/energy/skills etc. to implement.
This role requires a commitment of 12 hours.
